What To Expect From My Substack
In other words, how much is this going to cost you
For years I’ve hemmed and hawed about the right way to communicate with the community of folks we’ve been building on YouTube, Twitch, and social media.
We have a Discord channel with lively debate and discourse (feel free to jump in by the way: https://discord.gg/WeggQPjEBW) which certainly has its benefits, and of course my video content.
But longer-form writing has always felt more intimate to me. It’s just me communicating my thoughts to one person at a time, even if many consume it, and hoping that it’s done in such a way that’s moving, amusing, or thought-provoking.
I went through all of the various blogging places before settling on this one, even though it has its warts, and now here we are with a path moving forward.
So I want to give prospective subscribers an idea of what to expect from me if they do decide to join.
There will be frequent, free written content available to everyone.
This is important to me because I don’t have an expectation of making money from this, though I would certainly like to. However, it still will provide a way for those who aren’t able or aren’t comfortable to interact and be a part of the community
There will be frequent, paid written content available only to subscribers
This will include things like chats where we can speak directly to each other, certain posts where I communicate ideas I don’t share more widely, and even some video content
There will be video content available here
I enjoy the process of creating video, and have for years. I’ll continue to do so here with content that won’t be released anywhere else and only available to paid subscribers
I am looking into how to take advantage of the podcast feature, possibly with a audio-only version of each week’s episode of the YouTube show
I’m not entirely certain how we’ll take advantage of this yet, but just know something is coming and it will have some parts open to everyone, and some parts only for paid subscribers
I’m really excited about this journey and that you’ve chosen to come on it with me. If you have any ideas or suggestions about what you’d like to see from me here, please let me know here or you can always tag me on Bluesky: @prolibshow.bsky.social
Now let’s get to some specifics:
What free subscribers will have access to:
Regular, long form blog posts about something that interests or inspires me for the first two weeks they are released
Some of the podcast episodes or limited versions of them
A thank you from my Bluesky account to yours
What paid subscribers will have access to:
Full access to the entire archive of everything I post
All of the videos released
Community chats including a monthly Q&A only for paid subscribers
All of the podcast content released here, including some that will be exclusively here and available nowhere else
Social media shoutouts in the weekly podcast and on Bluesky
I really do enjoy getting paid for all of the work and effort it takes to do this, so that’s why I am going to have paid features and content available from the start.
However, I value those who choose to subscribe and not pay and I will always have content for all of you as well.
Thanks for subscribing no matter which path you choose
