Reports say Musk aides have locked OPM workers out of computer systems

In a brazen move to take control of federal human resources, career civil servants have had their access to computer systems revoked.
The systems contain personal data on millions of federal workers.
Two officials spoke to Reuters anonymously to confirm the situation, and likely for fear of reprisal were they to go on the record.
The system in question is known as the Enterprise Human Resources Integration. It’s a database of social security numbers, home addresses, length of service, and other personal identifying information.
"We have no visibility into what they are doing with the computer and data systems," one of the officials said. "That is creating great concern. There is no oversight. It creates real cybersecurity and hacking implications."
The consequences that could befall these federal workers if their information was released publicly are obvious, and it is unknown how Musk’s loyalists would use it against them if they so desired.
We do know Musk has a general disdain for civil servants.
In response to a recent story about the early resignation email sent from OPM to federal workers causing them stress and grief, Musk replied on X "Hit 'Send’".
A worker replied at the time:
"It feels like the new administration thinks we are dirt and do nothing for the country," said one 20-year federal employee who asked not to be identified out of fear of retribution. "This is heartbreaking."
Now Musk appears to have engaged in a hostile takeover of their personal information, with no guardrails on what he can do with it and no empathy for the pain and heartbreak he might cause.
